🎣 Fishing Gear & Product Help

What’s the difference between spinning and baitcasting reels?

Spinning reels:
are easier to use and are ideal for beginners, lighter lures, and finesse fishing.
Baitcasting reels:
offer more control, accuracy, and power, making them a better choice for experienced anglers using heavier lures or targeting larger fish.

If you’re just getting started, a spinning setup is usually the best place to begin.

What fishing line should I use?

The best fishing line depends on your setup and conditions:

  • Monofilament: easy to use, forgiving, great for beginners
  • Fluorocarbon: low visibility, more sensitive, good for clear water
  • Braid: strongest option, excellent for heavy cover and strong hooksets

Your line should match your reel, rod, and fishing style for best performance.

What lures are best for bass?

Crankbaits – Great for covering water quickly and locating active fish at different depths.
Spinnerbaits – Excellent in murky water or around cover thanks to vibration and flash that help bass find the bait.
Jigs – Ideal for fishing heavy cover and structure where big bass tend to hide.
Soft plastics – Extremely versatile and natural-looking, effective in almost any condition or season.
Topwater baits – Best for surface strikes, especially early morning or late evening when bass are feeding aggressively.

What lures are best for crappie?

These proven crappie lures work in a wide range of conditions:
Crappie jigs– Reliable, easy to fish, and one of the most consistent crappie producers
Tube baits-Offer a subtle profile that works well when fish are less aggressive
Small soft plastics– Versatile options that can imitate minnows and other forage

What should I use for catfish?

Catfish fishing is all about scent, strength, and fishing the bottom. The right setup makes a big difference:

  • Strong hooks – Circle or kahle hooks are great for holding fish and handling tough fights
  • Bottom rigs – Keep your bait where catfish naturally feed, near the lake or river bottom
  • Live bait – Shad, minnows, or small bluegill work well for targeting bigger catfish. Available in store only.
  • Cut bait – Releases strong scent into the water to attract fish from a distance
  • Stink bait & prepared bait – Easy to use and highly effective, especially for channel catfish

How do I Choose lure color?

Dirty water: brighter or high-contrast colors
Clear water: natural colors
