The Mad Katz Mad Slabz Spinning Reel is built specifically for crappie, panfish, and other light-tackle applications where lightweight handling, smooth performance, and dependable line management matter. Available in 500 and 1000 sizes, the Mad Slabz gives anglers two compact options for pairing with ultralight and light spinning rods.
Both models feature a 5.2:1 gear ratio and smooth 5+1 bearing system. A precision-forged aluminum spool works with a computer-designed balanced rotor and line lay oscillation system to provide consistent line management and smooth casting with lightweight presentations.
Inside, a durable brass pinion gear and powerful drive gear system provide dependable performance trip after trip. The CNC-machined handle can be configured for either right- or left-hand retrieve and is finished with a soft EVA knob for a comfortable grip during long days on the water.
The compact MS500S weighs just 5.05 ounces and retrieves 23.2 inches of line per turn, making it an excellent choice for ultralight crappie setups. The larger MS1000S weighs 7.05 ounces and retrieves 25.2 inches per turn for anglers wanting a slightly larger reel while maintaining light-tackle performance.
